It happened. I was hoping to avoid it. I was nominated to do the ASL Ice Bucket Challenge by my cousin.
I have been on the fence about this challenge. I think raising awareness is great. I think raising money for a cause is even greater. I have to say that watching the videos over the past couple of weeks have been entertaining. My favourite so far has been Patrick Stewart’s Ice Bucket Challenge followed closely by the video of Benedict Cumberbatch.
I am reminded of two quotations as a mull over what my response to the challenge will be:
1.) “Every party has a popper.” (Franc from Father of the Bride)
2.) “Not, how much of my money will I give to God, but, how much of God’s money will I keep for myself?” (John Wesley)
Here is the ALS website for those who want the information about the Ice Bucket Challenge.
So, here is my response.
1.) I am donating to help those without clean water through Blood: Water.
2.) I am donating to help those with ALS through ALS Canada.
3.) I am uploading a video of me doing the actual ice in water in a bucket over my head part onto Facebook, where my cousin who challenged me is sure to see it.
Enjoy and please donate!!
